Chapter 3: "A Heart Committed to Prayer."

Casting all your care upon him, for he careth for you.-1 Peter 5:7

Prayer allows us to have a deeper relationship with our God, our Father.
If we spend regular, daily, unhurried time in prayer with God, we will deeper our relationship with Him.
Prayer helps us to grow spiritually, it increases our faith and also provides a place to unload our burdens.

To be honest, I use to not put very much effort in my prayer life, I would only prayer for about five minutes every other day and most of the time it was a prayer of asking for rather than thanking for.
Chapter 3, really changed my heart on prayer, and inspired me.

First of all prayer increases are faith, when we go to the Lord and ask for guidance or healing for others, and we see His work in the things we prayed for, that strengths our faith.

2. Prayer provides a place to unload burdens.
If we begin our day casting our cares and burdens on the Lord, then we can go about are day relieved, freed from many heavy weights.

3. Prayer teaches us that God is always near.
"God is our refuge and strength, a very help in time of trouble. Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the mist of the sea. -Psalms 46:1-2
The more we pray, the more were reminded of God's powerful presence in time of trouble.
Prayer trains us not to panic. Jesus tells us in Luke 18:1 not to give up, give in, or panic.
Instead we are to preserve: "And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint." -Luke 18:1

Lastly, prayer changes lives.
Once we develop a life committed to prayer it not only changes things it will change you!

"I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made Heaven and earth." -Psalms 121:1-2

"Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.
 -Jeremiah 33:3

I hope and pray that through prayer it will help me and you to grow in our faith. Relieve us of our burdens.
Make us more aware of the presence of God. Help us to be less likely to panic when troubles arise and we will be changed and transformed into the image of God's Son and our Savior.

"For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil."-1 Peter 3:12

So I encourage you to take the time to pray, make a prayer list.
Pray for your family, your pastor, your friends, your church, your struggles.
God is ALWAYS there with an ear to hear our prayers. : )

Day 6: A picture of a person you'd love to trade places with for a day

I would love to trade places with Rick Steves. Staring in his own T.V show, he tours all around the world, visiting beautiful locations, staying at resorts, and learning about different cultures and foods! He also goes biking, hiking and kayaking through beautiful country. If I traded places with him, I would have so much fun, learning and trying different things. I would also love to take pictures of everything! :D

Remember Thanksgiving.

I love Fall.  The weather is just right,  the skies are bright blue,  and the leaves are all sorts of different colors! Thanksgiving is coming soon and I'm looking forward to it. I love the fact that its a day set aside to reflect on all the blessing we have in our lives! Sometimes its easy to forget all we have, especially when we get in the mind set that I won't be happy unless I have a new possession. These "things" will make you happy for a moment but they will eventually become old or out of style. We shouldn't look to material things to make us happy because they won't. We should be thankful for the things we already have. One thing we should be very thankful for is God's Word. His word is something we need to walk and live by everyday. Its a map to know what turns to take. The Bible sustains us, guides us, comforts us, strengthens us and so much more.  Joy and peace is there, waiting for us right on our book shelf. One of my favorite ...

Nothing Shall Take What Lives Within

My heart was really torn after what happened to the church in Sutherland Springs, Texas this past week. I just can not imagine going through something like that. Last Wednesday night, I was blessed to hear a comforting message from the pastor of Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church, Elder Tim McCool. Speaking from Revelation 6:10-11, he reminded us that Our God is a Just God, Holy and True and even though man may take this outward body NOTHING can take away what's living within it. Praise God! I n relation to all of this, I was led to write a short poem. May it be, I hope and pray, a comfort to others. Fear, doubt, and trouble, come in as a warring thunder. Where is that silver lining, beyond these dark, thick, clouds asunder? We look to what surrounds us, what is amongst, finding no line of silver, a question unconquered. Is this a hidden treasure, we must seek to find? With a sigh, we find a hidden place and a book of Holy, by our side. In past, this book had served, to ...
