The weather is just right,
the skies are bright blue,
and the leaves are all sorts of different colors!
Thanksgiving is coming soon and I'm looking forward to it. I love the fact that its a day set aside to reflect on all the blessing we have in our lives! Sometimes its easy to forget all we have, especially when we get in the mind set that I won't be happy unless I have a new possession. These "things" will make you happy for a moment but they will eventually become old or out of style. We shouldn't look to material things to make us happy because they won't. We should be thankful for the things we already have. One thing we should be very thankful for is God's Word. His word is something we need to walk and live by everyday. Its a map to know what turns to take. The Bible sustains us, guides us, comforts us, strengthens us and so much more. Joy and peace is there, waiting for us right on our book shelf. One of my favorite Authors put it this way:
"True spiritual joy is not happiness. Happiness is an emotion, a state of good fortune and success related to our circumstances. If all is going well, we are happy, but as soon as some dark cloud or irritation enters our life, our feeling of happiness vanishes. Spiritual joy is not dependent on circumstances, but on the spiritual realities of God's goodness, ( being thankful for what He gives us) His unconditional love for you, and His ultimate victory over sin and darkness. Spiritual joy is not an experience that comes from favorable circumstances but is a sense of well-being that abides in the heart of the person who knows all is well between himself and the Lord." ~ Elizabeth GeorgeI use to be bad at putting true effort in my bible study, I still am sometimes.
But God's Word is teaching me SO much. Read your bible and if you don't know where to start go to Proverbs! There are 31 chapters, one for each day of the month. :)
Take God's word more personally and realize how important it is. Don't you want to know more about the person who made you! He MADE you. Just think about that for a minute. He made you and put you on this earth to shine as a bright light through all this darkness. He's your Heavenly Father. He gave you everything you have. From food to eternal life in Heaven. Doesn't that just make you want to serve Him and know Him even more! I know I do and reading your Bible is the first step. :)
Word's that's encourage me and hopefully you to read your Bible sometime soon:
All Scripture is given by the inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.
~2 Timothy 3:16-17
Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path. ~Psalm 119:105
Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put there trust in Him. ~Proverbs 30:5
Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fullness of joy, at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore. ~Psalms 16:11
