Chapter 2: "A Heart That Loves God's Word."

*Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. -Psalms 119:105

The greater your proportion of your day -of your life-spent hidden in quiet, in reflection, in prayer, and in study of God's word. The greater will be the effectiveness, the impact, the power of the part of your life that shows. When we spend time with Christ, He supplies us with strength and encourages us in the pursuit of His ways.

How?
1. Develop the habit of drawing near to God.
"And Abraham gat up early in the morning to the place where he stood before the Lord." -Genesis 19:27

"My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD, in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up." -Psalms 5:3

"And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he (Jesus) went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed." -Mark 1:35

All three of these men went to the Lord in the morning, at the start of their day.
As I mention in the last post, its important to put the Lord at the top of your 'To Do List', and why not start your day in the word of God, that sounds good to me! :)

2.Design a personal time for drawing near to God.
Plan a time and place for you to Study and meditate on God's word, a time where you can REALLY sit down and study the word and take it to heart.
A lot of times I use to quick read, especially when I had school work waiting to be finished.
Don't quick read, take the time to study and meditate on it.
The Bible will guide you and bless you, its the book of life!

Here are some reasons why its good to read your bible:

~The bible keeps you from bad behavior.
"Thy word have I hiding in my heart that I might not sin against thee." Psalms 119:11

~The bible leads you in the right direction.
"Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path." Psalms 119:105

~The bible guides you in the truth and prepares you to serve others.
" All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: that the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works." 2 Timothy 3:16-17

~The Bible sharpens your discernment and judgement.
"For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart." Hebrews 4:12

I want to encourage everyone out there to read your Bible. Even if its just ten minutes, God will be pleased to see that you care and want to learn how to live a life to please Him. He will bless you! :)
Read God's Word. Start anywhere. The only wrong way to read the bible is to not read it!

Nothing Shall Take What Lives Within

My heart was really torn after what happened to the church in Sutherland Springs, Texas this past week. I just can not imagine going through something like that. Last Wednesday night, I was blessed to hear a comforting message from the pastor of Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church, Elder Tim McCool. Speaking from Revelation 6:10-11, he reminded us that Our God is a Just God, Holy and True and even though man may take this outward body NOTHING can take away what's living within it. Praise God! I n relation to all of this, I was led to write a short poem. May it be, I hope and pray, a comfort to others. Fear, doubt, and trouble, come in as a warring thunder. Where is that silver lining, beyond these dark, thick, clouds asunder? We look to what surrounds us, what is amongst, finding no line of silver, a question unconquered. Is this a hidden treasure, we must seek to find? With a sigh, we find a hidden place and a book of Holy, by our side. In past, this book had served, to ...

Twenty-One. An Official Adult.

September 3rd, I turned 21! Ah! How crazy time flies. I am super excited to do a blog entry. Each month, I like to look back on journal entries and read my devotional notes and see God's working hand in my life. For this past month of August, I've decided to count the blessings along with it. Asking myself, where in my notes can I read and say, "thank you Lord, for guiding me." One of my favorite quotes is this, "It's not joy that makes us grateful, it's gratitude that makes us joyful." I love the truth behind this; A heart of gratitude and praise for all the Lord has done and does for us, I am finding more and more brings such joy and contentment in this life, even through hard situations that we may not understand. So as a way to reflect and a place for me to look back on, I am going to share a few bits and pieces of my daily devotional entries here with you. Along with a few pictures from my adventurous birthday outing with my mom, sister, ...

Finding Gold

So recently I stumbled across an interesting blogger's post on 20 questions you could ask yourself and or an older sister in Christ to find treasures and spiritual inspiration. So being stumped on a topic, I decided to search out a Q&A and this one really stirred my thoughts. Also, sitting here on my couch because I'm suppose to rest after wisdom teeth extraction, is driving me a little nuts. Haha! I LOVE being active and it's only been a day after surgery and I'm already planning my get back in routine diet and workout plan. ;) Any who, let's jump in! I encourage you to ask some of these questions to yourself, friends, family members, church family, and anyone you're close to. Some are good ice breakers and I think important questions and topics to talk about. 1. What is your salvation story? Well if you're asking when I was saved, than you'll have to look back about 2,000 years ago, to Jesus taking my sins to the cross and dying there to s...
