Finding Gold

So recently I stumbled across an interesting blogger's post on 20 questions you could ask yourself and or an older sister in Christ to find treasures and spiritual inspiration. So being stumped on a topic, I decided to search out a Q&A and this one really stirred my thoughts. Also, sitting here on my couch because I'm suppose to rest after wisdom teeth extraction, is driving me a little nuts. Haha! I LOVE being active and it's only been a day after surgery and I'm already planning my get back in routine diet and workout plan. ;) Any who, let's jump in! I encourage you to ask some of these questions to yourself, friends, family members, church family, and anyone you're close to. Some are good ice breakers and I think important questions and topics to talk about.

1. What is your salvation story?
Well if you're asking when I was saved, than you'll have to look back about 2,000 years ago, to Jesus taking my sins to the cross and dying there to save me from my sins. He died and rose again and now my hope is in Him and Him alone. I thank God everyday for this. Knowing my salvation belongs to my one and only Beloved Savior. Now I have the privilege and blessing to live out my life sacrificially to Him for this gift of eternal life He purchased. "For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him." 2 Corinthians 5:21.

2. Tell me about your relationship with the Lord?
<3 It's breath taking and beautiful. I love Him so much, He is always there for me, regardless of my sinful, poor nature. He comforts me when I am afraid, He guides me when I am unsure, He tells me to rest in Him and Him alone. He corrects me and puts me on the right path. He is my Beloved, my Friend, my Father, my Savior, and a Supreme Powerful God. He holds my hand when I am driving home from work, wraps His arms around me when I am afraid to sleep at night. I hear Him whisper follow me while reading His Word, I look at His creation and see His love through painted skies. I can always trust Him. Oh I could go on and on...
3. What role does prayer have in your life?
A chance to breathe. There are things I only want to share with God and Him alone. I speak to Him for guidance, but most recently prayer has played a role of praise. Lately all I've wanted to do is thank God, because I've realized things He's been doing I just didn't see at first. "Enter into His gates with thanksgiving and into His courts with praise." How do we abide closest to God? When we enter His gates and His courts. How do we enter? By praising Him and thanking Him for the blessings you have in this life, you have lungs to breathe and a heart that beats, thank Him. You have a bed to sleep in and water to drink, thank Him. He saved you from your sins so you can rest and live forever, praise Him!

4. When and how do you read the Word of God?
Well, let me tell you it's always different. Haha! I struggle so much to stick with a yearly reading plan because I find a piece of treasure while reading then that leads me to another place in the bible than another and all the pieces tie together and make up this BEAUTIFUL adventure of reading scripture. But that's just how I am, maybe one day I will have completed my bible reading plan. Anyway, I always want to start my day with scripture so that's usually when I read the Word of God. I'll make coffee and read my bible while I eat breakfast, I start with a prayer and ask God for His guidance and to teach me what I need to learn and work on today. Than sometimes, I go to the back of my bible, find a word in the reference and read the scripture references for that word. This usually gets me started for the day. I'll then download a podcast sermon from either Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church or Zion and listen to it on my way to work.

5. What have you been learning from the Word lately?
Turning. Turning from the past. Deuteronomy 2:1-3 paints a great picture, of God telling the children of Israel to move on. Verse 3 says, "Ye have compassed this mountain long enough turn you northward" God had miraculously set the children of Israel free from the oppression and bondage of slavery in Egypt. But their unwillingness to fully trust Him and refusal to take possession of the promise land, landed them in quite a mess. A 40-year desert wondering mess. Moses reminds them of a time when they had been stuck circling the same mountain for too long. God spoke into their wandering and let them know it was time to head in a new direction. This has been a key for me lately. It was a pivotal moment for them to remember. One where they had faced a life-changing choice. They could stay stuck, endlessly circling the same old place or they could choose hope and head in a new direction with the Lord.

6. What have you been praying about lately?
Grace, guidance, patients and contentment.

7. What is your favorite hymn?
An Evening Prayer (at least for now this is my favorite, it changes every now and then.) ;)

8. What is your favorite verse from the Bible?
Oh my goodness, how do I just choose one! There are many but for now, Jeremiah 31:3,
"The Lord hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with loving-kindness have I drawn thee." Lately I have found myself saying, God's grace is sufficient Lydia. My whole life I have been on the move with my father as a minster, I realize the importance, through his example of laying down my desires and picking up my cross and going where God wants me to go, whether I feel comfortable or not. What keeps me going? Remembering that He is always with me and taking care of me. Trusting and obeying, for there's no other way to be happy in Jesus. Maybe this should have been my favorite hymn.

9. What is the most important thing to keep in mind when serving others?
That you are serving as unto the Lord.

10. What are some ways we can practically love others?
Pray for them, speak kindly of them (whether you're around them or not) encourage their walk with the Lord, LISTEN, be the best listener, and don't always jump to speak before you hear them out. Be a comforter and helper, but also be an honest friend and don't sugar-coat everything.<-- something I personally need to work on.

11. How can a woman grow in her love for the Lord?
Gratitude, read His Word and discover what all he has done for you, Understand His love for you and you will love Him more. I promise you that. If you're having a hard time/day, try my approach of the ABC's of God Prayer. Go through the entire alphabet and each letter give God a name, for example: A= God, you are Amazing B= God you are Bountiful. C= God you are Caring..ect. Say it as a prayer and watch your love grow and eyes open to what God has done in your life for you. :)

12. What are you passionate about?
Serving and encouraging others, working out and eating healthy! :D

13. What brings you joy?
Seeing a family in church all worshiping and loving one another and the Lord together. Also, my sweet lil niece Kendra! ;)

14. How do you care for yourself?
Get plenty of rest and drink lots of water.
Paint your nails and spoil yourself with dark chocolate every once in awhile.

15. What practical wisdom can you share regarding money?
Don't spoil yourself too much, and give more.

16. What can keep you up at night?
Hurting someone I love.

17. What do you often wonder about?
What the future holds.

18. What is your favorite book?
Right now, Girl Defined by Kristen Clark & Bethany Baird.
I can't wait for their new book Love Defined!

19. If you could rewind your life, is there anything you would change?
Eat less cake and more veggies! ;) Haha!  I'm not sure how to answer. There probably would be a lot I'd wish I could change but it's already happened, so you just have to keep going and try not to make the same mistake again. :) Learn from the past live better in the future.

20. What are your thoughts about heaven and eternity?
I can't wait because it's going to be a perfect place and I hope I'm still alive when Jesus comes to
 take us there!

Well there you have it! Thanks for reading and see you next post. Be sure to remember some of theses questions and ask your friends. It's definitely a great conversation starter. :) <3

Remember Thanksgiving.

I love Fall.  The weather is just right,  the skies are bright blue,  and the leaves are all sorts of different colors! Thanksgiving is coming soon and I'm looking forward to it. I love the fact that its a day set aside to reflect on all the blessing we have in our lives! Sometimes its easy to forget all we have, especially when we get in the mind set that I won't be happy unless I have a new possession. These "things" will make you happy for a moment but they will eventually become old or out of style. We shouldn't look to material things to make us happy because they won't. We should be thankful for the things we already have. One thing we should be very thankful for is God's Word. His word is something we need to walk and live by everyday. Its a map to know what turns to take. The Bible sustains us, guides us, comforts us, strengthens us and so much more.  Joy and peace is there, waiting for us right on our book shelf. Going Out West

I'm back! :) It has been such a long time since I've sat down and took some time to spend on my blog! Almost two years! Haha! With a list of excuses I could go through, I'll just cut to the chase and say I'm here and Lord willing, I hope to be posting more often. Going out west. Was SO amazing and a trip I'll never forget! Beginning in Las Vegas, Nevada and ending in Oceanside, California I was blessed to meet some of my sweet brothers and sisters in Christ along with experiencing new things. The best part of this trip was I didn't travel alone! I flew out with three preachers; my dad, Elder Sam Bryant, and Elder Craig Blair. It was awesome, I really enjoyed listening to their conversations and learning a thing or two. ;) You may be wondering why I flew with three preachers, well the whole reason this trip to Las Vegas came about was because of a dear sweet group of people. Which I can now happily call, the members of Las Vegas Primitive Baptist Church! :)
